About this Project:
The Andiappan Yoga Community (AYC) is delighted to provide elementary yoga classes for a group of adolescents between 10 to 18 years old. These youth are currently under the supervision of the Juvenile Protection Section. By introducing the therapeutic benefits and rehabilitative power of yoga through the sessions, we hope all participants can find relief from cravings, stress and other negative emotions. In fact, yoga and meditation are useful alternatives that can help at-risk youths to cope with their daily struggles and mental pressure. AYC hopes to bring yoga as a form of complementary care and support for young people within correctional environments – such that they are all encouraged and empowered to live a better life and flourish in the future.
Our yoga classes will be part of many service and activities offered to at-risk adolescents by the Juvenile Protection Section of Kowloon West. The Office hopes to engage them in a wide variety of activities that are beneficial to both their physical and mental health, it also seeks to support youngsters through promoting a positive living attitude and by offering different treatment programmes for relapse prevention.
